Guitar Donation to Linwood Public Charter School

Students from the Linwood Public Charter School received a visit from guitar legend James Burton on Tuesday, March 8th. Burton, who has accompanied musicians ranging from John Denver to Elvis Presley, brought along a gift of 24 guitars for the students at the school. During his visit to the school, Burton attended a special dedication ceremony where he spoke to the students about how his own journey to playing the guitar professionally started at their age. He encouraged students to give it a try and see where music might lead them.

“We at Linwood Public Charter School think music education is extremely important,” said LPCS School Director, Ms. Vickie Carroll. “We were so excited to be able to work with Mr. Burton and provide this opportunity to our students. It is great to see the community getting involved in supporting the great things we have going on at Linwood,” she added.

With the aim of helping young musicians realize their full potential, Burton hopes the donated instruments will provide students with the opportunity to learn the guitar through music classes during school. Through his foundation, The James Burton Foundation, over 2,000 instruments have been given to local schools.
